35 . SWOC analysis of the department and Future plans:

Ø Strengths

· Qualified faculty with strong Research activity.

· The department has sophisticated instruments viz. Leica Microtome, inverted microscope, Sonicator, Cooling centrifuge (5000 to 30000 rpm), PCR instrument, Automatic tissue processor, Microphotography unit

· Zoology is becoming the pivotal subject and its interdisciplinary relevance is increasing.

· Experience and exercise based teaching-learning

· The department has linkages with the Zoological Society of India for Identification of Animals for Research work.

Ø Weaknesses

· The department has no collaboration with foreign Universities reasonably students of the department do not have direct access to foreign University.

Ø Opportunities

· The department is recognized Research Centre of SPPU University hence it enables the rural candidates to perceive their research

Ø Challenges

· Due to the ban on dissections of animals the students cannot get proper practical skill

Ø Future Plans

· Apply for new Research Projects to UGC, DST, ICMR & BCUD

· Study tours to National Institutes of Apiculture and Sericulture.

· To start Certificate Course in Sericulture, Apiculture

· To establish collaboration and linkages with National and International Institutes.
