KTHM College was established in 1969 in fine tune with the motto of our parent institution Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj, Nashik. The motto is बहुजन हिताय! बहुजन सुखाय! (For the welfare of masses and for the happiness of masses). The parent institution was established in 1914 for the sole cause of education for the deprived classes. The Institution has got the legacy of movement keeping the view of leading the masses from darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge.
K.T.H.M. College is well acclaimed for its academic excellence and is a name to reckon with science, literature, language, sports and extracurricular fields. It is widely believed to be the biggest college not only in the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), formerly known as University of Pune, but also in the country at large on the basis of quantity keeping pace with quality.
The college imparts both UG and PG level education in various subjects. Besides this, the college has established research centres for M.Phil. and Ph.D. in 10 and 11 subjects respectively. Our college has been recognised by sanctioning B. Voc. in Interior Design and Printing Technology and Community college by UGC. In addition to this, some career oriented courses like Video Production, Tourism, Strengthening English Communication, and Instrumental Techniques for Pharmaceutical Industries etc are run very effectively besides vocational courses like Functional English and Computer Maintenance. Recognition of Star College by Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India and provision of funds under FIST scheme by Department of Science and Technology are feathers in the crown of the college. DST Inspire Internship Camp is held every year to encourage the students to pursue their higher studies and research in basic sciences.
The college is located in the heart of the city and on the bank of the river Godavari. Its magnificent campus is spread over on 37 acres of land which consists of
the Main Building, Annex I, II, III, IV, and V buildings, Library Building, Principal‘s Residence, Guest House, Boat Club, Auditorium, Gymkhana, Girls‘ and Boys‘ Hostels etc. with total built up area of 1,26,000/- sq. mtrs.
Keeping pace with the changing times and demands of the globalised ambience, the college offers a variety of programmes at UG, PG and the research level ranging from the conventional ones to the newly emerging disciplines like BBA, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, MA, MCJ, M.Sc. Tech (Industrial Mathematics), Nano-science and Nano-technology etc. It also offers vocational courses, add-on courses, certificate and diploma courses in foreign languages. These multi-faculty programmes meet the global employment market demands and prepare the students to contribute in nation building. At present, the college runs 26 UG, 28 PG, 10 M. Phil. and 11 Ph.D. programmes. All the educational activities organized in the college are student centric.
With keen interest and initiative from Dr. V. B. Gaikwad (Principal) of KTHM College to undertake the Environmental Audit of the campus, the audit was undertaken.
