35 . SWOC analysis of the department and Future plans:

Ø Strengths

· Good Research and extension activities.

· Highly qualified teaching staff with Ph.D. and NET/SET

· Language Lab (With Shairing)

· Central Library with research journals.

· 92 Research scholars: with 30 full-time research scholars with ongoing research fellowships

Ø Weaknesses

· Marathi Literature is lagging in establishing co-relation with other subjects like social sciences

Ø Opportunities:

· If more job-oriented coaching classes could be organized for the students of the department exclusively, it would give them good result. Add-on courses can bring new opportunities for the students of this department.

· To introduce certificate/diploma course in Sanskrit Language, Proof Reading & Translation

· To commence more skill development programs in the subject

Ø Challenges:

Due to students’ growing preferences to competitive examinations there is less number of students inclined to study Marathi literature.

To promote and enhance the scope of Marathi in the Competitive Global Environment.

Ø Future Plans:

•To organize a National/International Level Conference on  Interdisciplinary  & Comparative study.

•The department wants to prepare an audio text book for the visually challenged students.

•To develop Department of Marathi in the context of its literature, culture and people’s life.

•To start career oriented Certificated course in Proof Reading, Editing & Translation.

•To arrange various programmes for overall personality development of the students
