38. Teaching methods adopted to improve student learning:

Use of Advanced Scientific Calculators: The department has 24 Casio fx CG 10-20 calculators and 02 Softwares for operating these calculators. These are advanced calculators useful for better understanding of  the subject

Use of Mathematical Software: Scilab, LaTeX, Maxima, Python for S.Y.B.Sc. and M.Sc. Students.

Online Lecture Notes and E-Modules are made available on departmental website.

E-books:   More than 350 e-books were made available on each of the PC in Computer Laboratory

39. Participation in Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) and Extension activities: -

 40. SWOC analysis of the department and Future plans

Strengths

Infrastructure and Equipment’s: 30 computer systems with LAN Network and high speed Internet Connection,  UPS (5 KVA) back up facility, Sophisticated Licensed Software in Mathematics

Departmental Library: A good collection of References and    Texts

Departmental Website and E-resources:  The department maintains   website and regularly updates its contents (www.mathskthm.me.pn) with active forum (www.mathskthm.6te.net/forum) and e-modules are made available on www.mathsbeauty.esy.es .  Casio fx-cg -20 graphing calculators, sophisticated software viz. mathe-modellica are available.

Weaknesses

Lack of Major and Minor research projects from different funding agencies.

Less number of linkages and collaboration with industries.

Opportunities

To establish Mathematics Club

To create guidance section for various competitive exams such as GATE, CSIR, IIT-JAM entrance examination, Regional Mathematics Olympiads etc.

Challenges

Applications for Major and Minor Research Projects

To satisfy needs of increasing student strength.

To inculcate research aptitude among the students and faculty.

Future Plans

To organize a National/International Level Conference on   applications of Mathematical Software in Research

To organize SET-NET Lecture Series in exhaustive manner

To  conduct Research Projects on Mathematical Model
